TutsTake keeps no account for you, because there is nothing here to sign into. There is no login, no newsletter, no comment form, and no shopping cart. What follows covers the data that reaches this site anyway: through your browser and through the advertising.
Questions about anything below go to hello@tutstake.com.
What this site collects directly
Your browser sends a request to Cloudflare, which hosts these pages. That request carries your IP address, the page you asked for, your user agent, and the time. Cloudflare keeps that in its own logs for its own security and delivery purposes, under Cloudflare’s privacy terms rather than mine. I do not build a profile from it, and I have no database that stores it under your name.
If you email hello@tutstake.com, I have your email address and whatever you wrote. I use it to answer you and nothing else.
Google AdSense and the DART cookie
Advertising on this site is served by Google AdSense.
Google is a third-party vendor on this site. Google uses cookies, including the DoubleClick DART cookie, to serve ads based on your visits to this site and to other sites on the internet. Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google may also place and read cookies here, and their use of cookies is governed by their own policies, not by this one.
Three ways to turn personalized advertising off:
- Google’s own controls at adssettings.google.com, which is also reachable as My Ad Center at myadcenter.google.com. Turning personalization off does not remove ads. It removes the targeting.
- The Network Advertising Initiative opt-out at thenai.org/how-to-opt-out, which covers many networks at once.
- The Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out at optout.aboutads.info.
Google explains its own side of this at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. Blocking cookies in your browser settings works too, and it works whether or not any of the above cooperate.
Nothing on a page is embedded from anywhere else
No page here loads a video player, a map, a font, a comment box, or any other piece served by another company. The Google ad tag described above is the only third-party code on the site. The previous version of tutstake.com carried 38 YouTube players, and every one of them behaved like a visit to YouTube: cookies set and your address seen before you pressed play. They are gone with the pages that held them.
Outbound links are a separate matter. Following one puts you on that company’s terms and that company’s policy, and this one stops at the edge of tutstake.com. If an embed is ever needed to make a guide work, this section will name it before it ships.
GDPR: rights in the European Economic Area and the UK
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable form.
Advertising cookies need your consent before they are set. This site shows no consent prompt of its own yet, so it holds no consent record with your name on it, and the controls that do work today are Google’s at the links above and cookie blocking in your browser. A prompt that asks before the ad code loads is the right arrangement and it is not in place at the time of writing.
Because this site holds no account for you, most requests will end with me confirming that I have nothing on file beyond an email you sent yourself. Write to hello@tutstake.com and I will answer within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
CCPA: rights in California
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what categories of personal information have been collected and whether they were sold or shared, the right to request deletion, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right not to be treated worse for exercising any of it.
I do not sell personal information and I do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising outside the Google AdSense arrangement described above, which you can switch off at the links in that section. Requests go to hello@tutstake.com.
Children under 13
This site is written for adults fixing settings in apps they already use. It is not directed at children, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, in line with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.
If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child under 13 has sent me personal information, write to hello@tutstake.com and I will delete it. Google’s own restrictions on ad serving to children apply on top of this.
Changes and contact
The date at the foot of this page moves when the text changes, not on a schedule. If a section here stops matching what the site does, that is a mistake worth reporting.
